Desires, dreams, goals or a decision? As Napoleon Hill teaches, we need a burning desire to have financial success. Without dreams and goals, we have nothing to aim for. All these things should be clearly visualised and written down.
But there is only one way to eliminate the option for failure and that is to make a decision. When I was at my company convention we were all inspired by the successful speakers. Everyone was saying that they wanted to achieve the same thing. ‘Yeah, I’ll be on the stage next year getting that pin award.’ [click to continue…]

Do you want to have a good network marketing business or a great business? If money is your main motivation, then you will never reach the heights of greatness. That will ruffle a few feathers.
If you saw the video posted in my last article, with Art Jonak, Ken Dunn and Orjan Saele, you should have begun to get a feel for how the top people in our profession think. You may say that it is easy not to be concerned about the money when you have it.
I would like to suggest that you need to let go of the need for money in order to reach the big league. That may not be so easy. Perhaps you are still working towards replacing your job; you have a family to support; you desire a new home – whatever. These are important things but the dream of network marketing is one that offers the potential for true greatness. That is a word one of my mentors uses often and with good reason. If you are like most network marketers, you will be familiar with Napoleon Hill’s classic book, ‘Think and grow Rich’. In chapter 2 he tells the story of the penniless Edwin C. Barnes and his determination to become a business partner of the great inventor Thomas Edison:
“He saw himself standing in Edison’s presence. He heard himself asking Mr. Edison for an opportunity to carry out the one CONSUMING OBSESSION OF HIS LIFE, a BURNING DESIRE to become the business associate of the great inventor. Barnes’ desire was not a hope! It was not a wish! It was a keen, pulsating DESIRE, which transcended everything else. It was DEFINITE.”
Regular readers will know that I get huge inspiration from top achieving sportsmen. I’m a great tennis fan and yesterday the young Spaniard, Rafael Nadal, won the men’s single championship at Wimbledon in the UK. A year ago he was being hailed as the successor to Roger Federer, probably the greatest player ever. Then he was hit by career threatening injury and medical specialists said his playing days were probably over. Last year was a disaster for him. [click to continue…]

Great leaders and inspirers of men are not arrogant and unapproachable – they have no need to be like that. That is the domain of petty tyrants and small minded wannabe leaders. Leaders have no need to prove themselves to anyone else. Why is that?
When I was young and rebellious I wanted to feel I was part of a small, special group of people. We were different; we were going to change the world; our values were really exceptional. So I was a pretty arrogant young man. But hey, I was only young! Then I began to see that underneath it I am really not that different to my fellow human beings. That doesn’t mean I want to settle for the mediocre life most people lead. Of course not. But the greatest leaders and entrepreneurs still have wives, husbands, kids, like to hang out and sit in the sun.
As a leader, understand that you are no different, no better than anyone else. You do not have to compete and show yourself to be superior. The only person to whom you have to prove anything is you. So stop being right all the time and be yourself. [click to continue…]

You need skills; you need to learn how to close prospects and sign them up; you just have to talk to as many people as possible and find ways to keep increasing your list. Has that really worked for you? How about looking at what Napoleon Hill said in “Think and Grow Rich”. After all this is a book that I am sure most of you, as professional Network Marketers, have heard of or read. It is a classic manual of personal and business growth. So what tips does he give to grow your home business? Although MLM as we know it did not exist at the time he wrote the book, his principles still apply to us today.
In chapter 12, “The Subconscious Mind” he lists his seven Positive Emotions: [click to continue…]
