Mentor

MLM is about giving first (pt 1)

by Charlie on December 20, 2011

My mentor Marcello Lisi built his business to diamond but for 2 years he received no income from it for complex personal reasons. Yet he kept building and what kept him going was his team. This is a fantastic example of Zig Ziglar’s advice that if you help others to get what they want, you will receive everything you want.

Right in the midst of dark times is when our integrity is tested. Yet that is just the time to hold true to our principles. Such a philosophy and integrity is something we should all emulate.

Network Marketing Training Mentor

by Charlie on April 25, 2011

You will need to find a network marketing training mentor now that you have started your business. You can find out the hard way by spending a lot of money over the next few months. But it is better to know how to assess a mentor.

To be successful in building your business, you must have a mentor. This business is about teamwork. Your mentor must be someone:

1. Who is still actively building a business
2. Who is successful and earning a substantial income
3. Who really has experienced the rough and the smooth

You do not need someone with an employer mentality. You want to find a good teacher. You want personal, one on one live professional support, not just emails and auto responders. Do some research; talk to satisfied network marketers; research the background of a potential mentor.
You have expectations of your company so apply those to a mentor.

You should be able to access archived audio and video programmes previously offered by a mentor
Your mentor should encourage personal development and endorse this by practising himself
You should expect a prompt response to your queries, either by email or phone [click to continue…]

MLM Success – key pillars you need in place, pt 4

by Charlie on November 18, 2010

How important is a long term business plan? What should you expect to see? Ten or twenty years; fifty years? Of course things can change drastically despite the best laid plans and intentions. However, if a network marketing company has been set up truly for the sake of the distributors, then it is reasonable to expect a long term plan to be in place.

Am I being too fussy? Do you think I am scaremongering? As a mentor and student of the industry I have seen too many examples of people who set up a company, milked it and then allowed it to collapse. [click to continue…]

MLM Teamwork – a two way process

by Charlie on October 19, 2010

This is not a new topic on my blog or on others but I would like to explore it from a slightly different angle.

Everybody knows that we cannot succeed in network marketing on our own. You may have seen the interviews I published with my mentor Michael Dlouhy. He often says that we need a team, a coach and a mentor. I agree completely. Although that sounds good and I’m sure most of you would agree, we may still not be taking as much benefit from our team as we could be doing.

When I was a kid I was something of a loner. Added to that was the influence of my parents, both of whom were very isolated people. Working as a team or asking for help was not part of how they lived. So of course I absorbed those attitudes. [click to continue…]

Well most people do – or do they? In my team we talk about a new distributor being coachable. That is someone who acknowledges that as they are new to the team, they have a lot of new stuff to learn. Even if they have been in the industry before, there will be new ways of working that they need to take on board.

If network marketing is totally new for them, then for sure, they should be prepared to listen to someone more experienced. Yet I am still surprised at new distributors who are not prepared to listen.

I have been talking to several top earners in the industry (some of them on the video below) and they still have mentors to whom they turn for advice. [click to continue…]

Take a Break – are you out of steam?

July 24, 2010

When do you keep pushing on? Sure you have to work like crazy to get your network marketing business into top gear, but do you never stop? Some days you wake up feeling uninspired. Well I used to believe that actions followed emotions. You know the old excuse – ‘Well I’m not in the mood [...]

Can we make it alone in MLM?

April 22, 2010

This is a question I am often asked and the answer is ‘yes & no’. It is true that we are responsible for our own success. We cannot blame anyone else for our failures but that does not necessarily mean that we can make it as a ‘lone wolf’. When I was younger I had [...]

MLM Success – how to get lucky

March 29, 2010

My mentor is one of the global success stories in Network Marketing. People often tell him he is lucky. As someone who works harder than almost anyone I know, I believe he creates his own luck. So hard work is the basis of ‘luck’ but let’s look at what other factors come into the equation. [...]

Why you must find a great MLM guru

January 12, 2010

First you need to find someone still active in the MLM industry. Many coaches are not. That may be fine as a football coach. But Network Marketing is changing almost by the day with the internet. If your mentor is still active, then you know he has been through the challenges that you are facing [...]

Lead with your WHY

January 7, 2010

As a great coach and mentor, your most important asset is simply you. Supreme leaders set such an example; walking their talk so that those they guide just cannot help but follow. That was how Mahatma Gandhi freed India from the tyranny of British colonial rule. His WHY was such a burning passion that he [...]
