People don’t answer the door
to people they don’t know
Experts say that we make a decision about doing business with someone within 2 minutes of talking to them. Wow – that doesn’t give you much time to connect. They may not be consciously aware of their decision, but when they tell you ‘yes’ or ‘no’ a couple of weeks down the road, that’s where it came from. So how do you get to know someone fast? And how do you ensure they feel you care? Because if you don’t know what people really want, you’re bound to fail.
Understand them; what makes them tick and what their hot buttons are. In a couple of minutes?!! Yes you can do it if you apply the colours personality test. Over hundreds of years man has used personality types to look at his fellows. From the ancient Greek philosopher Hippocrates to Carl Jung early last century and others more recently, we have described 4 basic personality types.
The best and simplest way I know of is the Colour Personality Types – red, blue, yellow and green. We are either open or self contained. We are also either indirect or direct. Of course most of us are a mix of colours, generally having a primary and a secondary colour and some of the others too. For example you cannot be an open and a self contained person.
Red’s for instance are self contained and direct. Their main focus is on themselves; they are not people centred. You wouldn’t find many Red’s doing charity work! They are direct. They tell you straight how it is and what they think.
Don’t try to make someone like you
Just learn to understand them and let them know you do by talking their language. It’s that simple. Takes some work but you can learn. Get Michael Dlouhy’s CD on the colours. It will be the best investment you ever make in your business!
