MLM Success – key pillars you need in place, pt 3

by Charlie on November 15, 2010

We all talk about having a system to build a network marketing business. Why is it so important? The point of building residual income is so that you can walk away from the business at some point. If your system is built around individual people, not everyone will be able to do the same thing. So when you step out of the equation, your business will collapse.

Another key point is to what extent the company really puts the distributor first. Many say they do but would they listen to and take on board comments made by the people at the bottom of the compensation plan? Is the company president accessible on the phone? Many of them are surrounded by barriers you could hardly get through with a tank!

When you start a home based business, you are going to invest a lot of time and energy and some cash too. You are hoping to build a fantastic future. Don’t start with the cards stacked against you.

Hi Charlie,

Such a powerful point you make in saying that the system can’t be built around the individual.

If you plan to eventually retire or engage in other ventures you need to be able to point your team in the direction of assistance when you aren’t present. This is where a strong company comes in. Make sure their tutorials are top notch.

The distributors should be put first because the company as a whole is dependent upon growth. it’s tough to grow without new distributors.

Thanks for sharing the helpful video. Enjoy your day!

Hi Ryan

it is kind of tough for a company to grow without distributors but some seem to think they can – or treat the distributors like they are not very important.

thanks for your great support

hi there Mavis

without the tools we are doomed to failure. They must be simple tools that everyone can use, no matter their experience in the business nor their ability. The tools should be for everyone.

Hi Charlie,

as Wayne recently said: In MLM it isn’t about what works, it’s about what duplicates. It’s highly important to let go of the ego in order for us to create true walk-away residual income.

It makes life really easy if I am able to point people to a duplicatable system that works.

Thanks for sharing your insights.

Take care

Oliver

That is right on Oliver – if we hang on to our ego, there will never be residual income because we will always try to keep control of our business. It only works when it is out of our control and has a momentum of its own.

Hey Charlie,

First of all, a proven duplicable system is a very important thing to have in place if you want to be able to live the big promise of network marketing, which is freedom. It’s about letting the system do all of the work.

And having a company that puts its distributors first is rare, but also important for the long term sustainability of the company, because is people in the field who are working hard to build their dreams. The company is there to facilitate the business, not to extract the maximum they can from the field.

Take care,
Wayne

hi Wayne

I agree that few companies really put the distributors first. They may say they do but when you examine their actions, they make a lie of the claim.

As you say sustainability depends on the distributors coming first.

I really appreciate your visits

Great insight Charlie! Any system is only as good as those using it effectively. Any good system will be designed around the people using it – the more effectively they can use it, the better for the company, the team & the individual.

However, any good system becomes a great system when it’s flexible & can be changed as the company grows. The biggest challenge to overcome here though, is that the companies need to realise that changing the system in favor of the company as opposed to the individual, could bring about the demise of the company.

Stay inspired!
Michael

Hey Charlie,

You’re right, there needs to be a system in place to follow. The system will only work if the distributors work.

I’ve been with a few companies and it’s true, if the company puts their distributors first it makes a HUGE difference. I love that about my company. ;) When I was in Australia (and just starting out) I spoke with the president of that region and asked if he would meet directly with a prospect I had in the area. He was happy to do it! That spoke volumes to me at the time. So yes, I couldn’t agree with you more on that one!

Great points!

that is great to hear Susanna. You are fortunate to be in a ‘listening company’

Have you transferred the business seamlessly in your move back to the US?

Charlie,

Duplication is such a great way to keep your team going forward without having them sit around waiting to see what to do next.

The system is there for them, whether you are available or not.

It is part of the gameplan that is going to push your team forward and will be able to do the same for their team members.

Thanks for sharing.

Hi Charlie…

Network marketing is very unique for all the reasons you mention. It’s about people in every way and if the company does not value people as its most important asset I can’t see how they can survive in the long term.

Well said Charlie!

hi there Marcus

in the long term, a company that does not truly put the distributor first may not survive. But there are some companies around a long time that still do not really put the distributor right at the top of the pile.

Hi Charlie,

I loved your video and you are so right, the company needs to keep their number one asset at the top of the “pile” which are their team members and keep in mind that the team is normally the ones that built up and keep the company going forward.

The system does need to be duplicatable and not just revolve around one person as you stated, with the right guidance and training many more people can be successful if they so chose to be. Unfortaunalty many people join an opportunity and dont make any money in their first thirty to 90 days and then give up thinking it was a scam. The mentality of anyone looking at an opportunity needs to be one that it does involve work and doing things that you probably have never done before.

Great post and thank you for sharing.

hi Robert

that is a good point that people quit after a short time. A real disservice is being done by suggesting that the money in MLM is quick. In rare cases it may be but generally as with any business, it takes time to build a good income.

HI Charlie,

Simple systems are essential to duplication, as long as they are flexible to fit different people’s learning styles, teaching styles, personality styles, etc. The system needs to provide the building blocks for growing a team and our relationships are like the mortar that holds it all together. That goes for the relationships within the team and the relationships with the company leaders, product development, marketing departments, etc.

Having a company where the distributors are the #1 priority is not necessarily something people will look for when searching for an opportunity, but is absolutely something they should. :)

You share some very great points in this video, Charlie…thank you!

Hi Heather

you are right that people treally should look at how distributors are treated before they join.

There is such a difference in this, even with well establishes companies. I have seen such disappointing things and I am much more aware of it after being with a number of companies. My company really does put the distributors on a pedestal in every way.
