Network Marketing Prospecting – tips from the top

by Charlie on August 21, 2010

“Let me show you how to get 100 leads a day!” Hmmm, maybe I’m an old cynic but what does that mean when you hear it? Are the leads real and how do they translate into genuine prospects and then business partners? There are a lot of folk in our profession who appear to stress quantity over quality. Seriously, could you call 100 people a day?

We all work with different lead generating systems. In the one I use, a lead is really only of value if I can call him or her. Simply opting in to a list means little. That useful lead then only becomes a prospect if the first call results in building a relationship. Note that at this point I am not talking about getting him in my business nor am I making any money from him. I don’t do any kind of affiliate marketing. So prospecting is really about making friends with people. After all, we say that network marketing is about building the ‘know/like/trust factor first.

The important thing is to build a relationship without having any agenda – no thoughts of earning cash from the contact; sponsoring him at a future date or whatever. Most of the top people in our profession work like this. As Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiter says – just take the volunteers.

I’m sure most of you know of Art Jonak. He is in the 7 figure per year income bracket. All his fellow mentors in the Network Marketing Mastermind Group are at this level too. Big Al is there as well. They are all in different companies but they all share this fantastic mindset. I want to share this awesome video with you in which Ken Dunn is ‘grilled’ by Art and Orjan Saele (one of the other members of the group).

For Ken, prospecting is simply about making friends. Whatever comes next just depends on how things develop. It sure works for him!

If you are free for 3 days at the end of October, Art is organising a life changing event in Houston, USA. It’s generic; every speaker is a 7 figure earner; it will blow you away.

I would love to hear what you think of this video and share this post if it inspires you.

Hi Charlie, great inspiration to hear this. At right maybe it’s time to prospect all the time, and not only – as I do – on the internet. :)

Hey Charlie

Glad to see you back and a good post to boot.

The online funnel systems are all about generating a lot of leads, because for them to work you need a lot of leads :)

They are suppose to filter automatically for you to determine who to call and who not to call.

The problem is that many use them so that they do not have to call anyone.

Hi Peter

it does seem like a lot of people fail to grasp that network marketing is all about actually talking to people. Unfortunately some systems are pitched as needing no contact, no talking with anyone, no selling ever.

I think the people that this is aimed at are in the wrong business!

It is a powerful video isn’t it Tristram. I find things like this lift me on to a different level. I begin to look at my business and how I am developing it from a much higher perspective.

Viewing prospecting like this makes it a whole different ballgame.
