Network Marketing Tips – celebrate all the way

by Charlie on July 17, 2010

Climbing the ladder of MLM success is a step by step process. Have you ever tried to climb a ladder 2 or 3 rungs at a time? Not a good idea. Most of you here may be well on the way to building a big business. But I believe these principles still apply and certainly it is important to encourage your new team members to work in this way.

You start off and have ambitions of earning 100,000 a year. But how do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time or you’ll get indigestion!

So to start off you need to have the big vision and the goals. Know what they are, then put them aside and work to a step by step plan.

I remember when I learnt to swim aged about 7. My dad had a friend who was a qualified swimming teacher. He took me through stages to get my legs working well, then my arms and finally the breathing technique. But it wasn’t just the stages that were important – it was the celebration of each small achievement.

When I finally got the leg kick going well, I felt like I had mastered the whole art of swimming and my parents celebrated it with me.

That’s the key. Break down the business you will need to establish in order to earn 100K, into little steps. You need to find 1 good customer; then 2; sponsor your first team member; then another and so on. Celebrate each achievement of your own and those of your downlines.

If you have a team call or newsletter, announce the achievements of each individual. Recognition works wonders for people. Your company will have recognitions and incentives but they will generally require a high level of productivity to achieve. Newbies in the business will not be able to reach them so easily. It’s up to you to ensure they feel they are doing well by acknowledging the small victories. It is the accumulation of those that make for reaching the big goals.

Right from the beginning I celebrate a new team member joining me. I send them a little welcome pack – a couple of products that they don’t get in the company starter kit; a personal development book and maybe a CD. They feel valued. That is an important step for them.

We all love the big fanfare we get when reaching diamond. But you only get there by successfully mastering each mini step so why not have a fanfare for each of them. That way, people feel they are doing really well all the way along the journey. Remember the journey is the achievement not just the end goal.

I definitely agree with you Charlie,
We should celebrate our team members victories as much as possible. Giving them proper support and encouragement keeps them motivated and excited. Celebrating small victories is a great way to express gratitude for what we already have and prepares us for what is to come. Great post.

Hi Charlie,

I am great believer in the concept of celebrating small steps and small achievements. Without small achievements, no big achievements. So if we don't value our baby steps, chances are we never reach our big goals. Thanks for the reminder !

Take care

Hey Charlie, awesome insight on really showing how valuable people are and how to really motivate them at each small (but significant) milestone. I really enjoyed that and will probably do something similar to boost morale on my team.
