MLM Secret – improve presentation skills, pt 3, the end

by Charlie on July 14, 2010

In my previous post we reached a point where your prospect realises he wants to make some changes and he asks you what you do. Try the magic words ‘which means’ to connect your business to one of your products or services:

“I am in the skin care business which means that we have this wonderful moisturizer that makes your skin look 20 years younger in only 45 seconds a day.”

You’re telling a story at the same time and you know how powerful stories are. Then he asks how much money he can make. Pick a figure that you feel matches your prospect’s desires.

Don’t suggest $10,000 a month to a guy who is only just earning enough to feed his kids – he won’t believe you. And if you are talking to a company CEO, maybe 10 thousand a month is just peanuts.

If you don’t know what he needs, just ask.

“If you were to have an extra income with our business, how much would you be looking to earn?”

The last thing your prospect wants to know is what he has to do to earn the money. He doesn’t want all the stuff on the compensation plan and the monthly business volume, blah, blah – just approximately what he would have to do to earn the money you quoted.

Try this:

“All you have to do is – between you, and everybody you talk to, and everybody they talk to forever and ever – find about 25 families who want to drink the juice so that they wake up in the morning feeling great. And then you would earn an extra $300 a month.”

Now he has the facts and you’ve already established that he has a need and a desire because he asked you. You don’t have to whip out a contract and a pen right there. That would be just a little uncool. But he needs to decide. No point in hanging around. And if he says:

“I want to think about it” – well you know what that really means.

So the final magic phrase is:

“So what’s going to be easier for you?”

to continue doing a job you hate/never having enough money for the bills/being unable to go on holiday without worrying……

You get a decision either way. Now I can just hear some of you saying ‘This won’t work’. The trouble is we have been taught to make things so complicated and it is really so simple. One company I used to be with had a presentation that lasted well over an hour with visuals, product demos, etc. it nearly drove me crazy let alone my prospects and you can guess how successful I was!

Simple is good. You really don’t need to give more at this stage. When you start to train them is the time to share more info or point them to where they can find out themselves.

I highly recommend you check out Big Al’s website at – http://www.fortunenow.com/

Do whatever works for you but if you are not sponsoring people, give these ideas a try. What have you got to lose?

I love to get your feedback and I would appreciate you syndicating the post if you like it.

Hi Charlie,

I have been looking forward to this post and you have not disappointed. You're right it is about keeping it simple, no point going into something over the top as it just puts people off or worse they get over excited, join and never do anything. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Charlie,
great post. And Tom's website is really amazing, stuffed with extremely useful “plug and play” information. We have the saying in Germany: “Why doing it easy if you can do it complicated ?”
Cheers
Oliver

Hey Charlie

I like that “simple is good”

and I love the final magic phrase

I am always amazed that people will complain about where they are at but will not do something about it.

hey Charlie,

What key is you're catering this to a person by asking.

Asking is one of those people tend to think about because all they are thinking about his how they are going to close them.

That's not the way to do it.

Have a great weekend Charlie,
