Something that new team members struggle with is being consistent with their business building activities. Often this happens if they are under some kind of stress. You know the kind of excuse – well I wasn’t feeling very positive so I thought I should wait till I was more in the mood.
No, no, no! I used to think that actions follow emotions. In other words you perform better when you are feeling in a good state of mind. Well that is true, up to a point. But if you keep waiting till tomorrow to get the mood right before you do it…..well you know what – tomorrow never comes.
So if things are the other way round, it means that emotions follow actions. I have worked with a guy called Mike Litman and one of his battle cries was “You don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going”. That is so true and I see it in me all the time.
OK, so you have a bunch of leads to call and you’re not feeling very focused. What is the worst that can happen when you call up the first one? He says ‘No’. Well that isn’t life threatening! But you got going, generated some energy and when you talk with the third guy, you’re on a roll.
When you get this kind of shaky vibe syndrome creep up on you, there is a simple way to cut through it. Focus on the small stuff just 5 minutes ahead. Too often we get too caught up in the big picture; it all seems too much; how are we going to get there? For a newbie especially this causes everything to back up and stall, so we get into a tail spin and put off making a start.
That is the time to take just the first item on the list; focus on it; do it and then take the next one. Even if the first task is really small, just look at that and nothing else. Tell yourself that when that is done, you will have been successful – and you will have been.
You may be reading this and thinking that is what you would say to a kid but is it going to work for me? Well it sure does. We all like success and by the time you have had two or three good results, you are moving forward and your mood is totally different. Network Marketer’s block hits us all. A leader doesn’t take it seriously. He pushes on through and out the other side. Remember that the road to huge success consists of an endless series of small steps repeated endlessly. The result may be big and sexy but getting there is just constant repetition of mundane acts.
What do you think?

Hi Charlie,
you're making some really good points here: Just keep going, replace the habit of procrastination by the habit of keeping going (even if you go through hell, wasn't that Sir Winston Churchill who said that ?) Have a blessed weekend and take care.
To a prosperous life
Oliver
Thanks for the constant reminder to just be consistent, but consistently taking action, with a calm mind. Great stuff.
Yes just keeping going is the key. I don't take my emotions as seriously now as I used to.
I am certain that action – just doing it – is vital. Maybe the action is wrong, so we learn and change it. No action equals stagnation.
