I get pitched all the time with deals to tempt me to jump in quick. Variations of these hit my inbox constantly:
- Get in during pre launch or you’ll miss out
- Unique compensation plan, 20,000 in your downline in 2 days and earn from them
- Get a position now
Pre launch is one of the big ones. “If you don’t get in now, you’ll miss out on the big bucks”. OK, so you can question the exact figures, but around 90% of new companies don’t make it past 2 years and most of the ones that do, collapse within 4 years. That’s scary yet pre launch opportunities are still hyped up as the best deal you can get into.
But you know what? Any business (MLM or traditional) takes a while to get established – I know from experience on both counts. [click to continue…]

This is a question I am often asked and the answer is ‘yes & no’. It is true that we are responsible for our own success. We cannot blame anyone else for our failures but that does not necessarily mean that we can make it as a ‘lone wolf’.
When I was younger I had a conventional business in construction. I tended to work as a ‘one man band’ and I did achieve a degree of success. In fact at the time I felt I was doing well and I certainly had a good reputation. However with the wisdom of hindsight (such a wonderful thing) I see that there were things I could have done much better had I not relied so much on my own resources.
The MLM business model is rare, if not unique, in that your team is what produces your income yet you have no control over them as everyone is an independent business owner. As my mentor often says my success does not depend on my sponsor or any superstar whom I bring in to my business – it depends on me. So am I alone? Definitely not. I believe that ‘Life is a team effort’. It is about teamwork. [click to continue…]

I recently read an article suggesting that what drives most MLM companies is one of these — the compensation plan, the product range or the principles on which the company is founded. The author went on to say that he thought that the principles were the most important and said that he believed that in this era, a company with a strong green or environmental bias would be the best to join.
In the light of many people’s concerns over the environment, this presents an interesting argument. Mind you there are many who question the eco-movement and the scientific arguments about climate change. So how do you judge the top business opportunity?
The compensation plan is what makes network marketing unique, so that is always an essential part of what you should consider. [click to continue…]

Tahitian Noni International has caused a stir with the apparent ditching of its flagship Noni Juice product. Look closer and you will see that in fact it is now called a Bioactive Beverage. It is still there but it now has the backing of science. So is this good?
What makes a product good, effective and therefore a sound basis for building a home business is whether it works. Another wonderful plant is aloe vera. This is the basic ingredient in most of the products in the Forever Living range. A considerable amount of research has been done into the efficacy of aloe vera, which supports the claims made for it. It does seem to work for most people who try it, though not all. Yet most mainstream medical doctors will still dismiss it as nonsense. [click to continue…]

Is it a surprise to read that? For a long time we have heard that you want to blast everyone with your business opportunity; it’s a numbers game so the more “no’s” you can rack up, the nearer you are getting to a “yes”. Well that is a great way to get branded as someone to be avoided! Of course you will have to face rejection on the road to success. That is natural but most people (except the heavy hitters) don’t like to get endless rebuffs, even though it is not something to take personally.
So am I suggesting you should seek an easy path avoiding all challenges? Not at all, but it is a much better use of your time is to find and filter people, right from the start, to find those likely to make a go of building a Network Marketing business. Business is the key word. Too many people get into the industry with the wrong mind set. It is not a hobby or just another thing to play with. It is a serious business with the potential to create real wealth so look for people who show the signs that they will see this, even if they have no experience yet. [click to continue…]
